I have PSP8. I just got a new camera and have it set to the highest pixels to take pics. Well I open things up in PSP to edit and realize that the pixel number is WAY to high to enter challengs for basic editing. So I resize to meet challenge rules and the pic is tiny.

SO do I need to take the pics in a different format or what?

After you resize to 640
press crtl alt + - 0

this will resize on screen

I'm not familiar with PSP but if you resize to 640 X 480 or any close value it can't be tiny. I take my pics at the highest resolution too and I use CS2 for editing and never happened.

Try switching to the magnify/zoom tool and zooming in. Just make sure that you're viewing the image at 1:1 zoom (100% view, not shrunken to 50% or something) once you get it down to 640px.

I think you should be resizing for the challenges under save for web, then as you adjust the size you can see the actual KB's of the photo, and if you want you can adjust the quality of the image to get the best for the size. Or I am wrong about what you wanted and I will skulk away when no one is looking

lol don't skulk away pioneer. I think I may have figured it out. Going to upload it to another site and see how it looks before entering anything.

Thank you all for the help!

In photoshop, when we resize the image gets very tiny. Then we go to "view/actual pixels" and we see it in the same size as it will be on the web. You will have the same thing in PSP, just not sure of the menu structure there.
