I'm going to be away for awhile. I lost a LOT of work and I'm going to need to get it done before I can play teacher games.

Sorry I've been out of the loop. I am trying to play catch up this week.
Edited to add:
Designed my business card, not happy with the back of the card when submitted to vista so will look for another printer.
Bought my domain and paid hosting, now to design my site.
Signed up for photoreflect to be linked to my main site for use in purchasing and showing proofs.
YAY ME!

I think we're back. Sorry for the time-out, but I finished that wedding so I'm back in the game. :)
Where are we?
I posted my logo and we're mostly working on logos, business cards and websites now, right? :)
Ok, post me a link to your current business card layout and I'll go thru them. Good to be back.

Alright - so what would you like your business card to have on it wave? One side or two? Glossy or matte and why? :)
What direction is your card going to go in - elegant, colorful, fun?

umm. should I answer that before or after I actually get some sort of website built.
I was thinking of THIS as a template. CSS makes me happy.

For the Photoreflect site, do I have to use one of their labs for order fulfillment, or can I take the order off of there and have it filled locally? |

umm, pictures and a kick-butt logo, one side - more direct I think. elegant and professional. probably glossy, but matte will do.

This is what I have so far on a logo/business card.
Not real sure on colors, this just matched a web template I was working on, so I could use some suggestions.
ES stands for Erin and Steve.

Had posted this earlier but here goes. There was some work that I think needed to do on it, but haven't got round to it.
Be good to see what people think anyways.

I like your card and logo Paul. Have you tried any versions with photo's built in? I think that was mentioned before, but I wondered how that might look also.

Okay, two more advance stages of possible business card goodnes.
Here's b&W portriat version. Not sure on the placement of element here, kinda came out clunky.
And this is a full color one using a picture my wife took that I love, but is not a portrait.
I think this card flows much better overall, and looks more professional, but I'm not sure about using a bug/flower macro to promote a portrait business, though we do want to go into other areas also, so maybe it does work in the long run ... any ideas would be good.
Off so se Harry Potter. later.

what about printing tow sets- or what about the two sided idea? You could have your flower with your contact info and then have a few portraits on the other side?

Love the second card, wave. Very colorful - nice! I would definitely consider the 2-sided cards guys & gals - they are awesome! People ALWAYS flip just to see - tis nice to have something waiting.

I think it needs a photo or less white - it's very bright and clear, which is good, but maybe on a 2nd side put a photo or put a faded opacity photo behind the text?

Here is my card, they just got here and I'm VERY happy with them.
I ordered from //www.overnightprints.com/main.php?A=uploader&new=yes&p=bc and can't say enough good things. A friend ordered hers from vista a week before me and still hasn't gotten hers. |

I guess my question is do I have to choose one of those labs and give them my credit card info, which I do not want to do? It looks like before I can "add custom item" I have to have a full association with one of their labs.
I guess I'm just not clear on how the whole order process for Photoreflect works. How do I get paid from the people who place an order? It sounded like if an order is placed, the lab charges MY credit card? I would appreciate some clarification for this foggy brained photographer :)
Thanks. |

I am getting so discouraged about trying to make a money off of photography. Seems like the closer I get ready to start really trying to make a go of it I hear about other people doing the same thing. There have been three photography studios open up here in the last three months. I live in a very rural area. I just don't know if there is a market for me.
My husband says that I have something they don't....a passion for photography. He says that the other "Moms" who like to take pictures will eventually quit because they have poured all this money into equipment and backgrounds and will go broke. They won't make enough money to pay the rent. I will continue on I guess, I am working on getting jobs for my portfolio pictures but I can't help feeling bumbed out. I am not a pro. I have no lights. I have no studio. I have a point and shoot camera. I am not going to advertise till I look the part. ( I want to have my 20D first and some lights) (sigh)--I need a pep talk. |
