Yay - for my anniversary my wife got me the Canon EF50mm f1.8 mkII lens and the Battery Grip for my 20D :D - just a quickie about the battery grip, does it need 2 batteries in or can it run with just the one? Don't have enough cash for a second battery just yet.

It can be run with just one no problem as far as I'm aware of! I know my 300D grip can be though I prefer running 2. You'd better hang on to that wife of yours....she's priceless! :)

I can't believe they sell the battery grip without the batteries? Or at least one, anyway... Since the camera presumably has one already.

I guess it's what they call 'clever marketing' because they'll get another battery sale out of you!

It's my B'Day on Sunday too, and my Wife has bought me a 350D, her parents have bought me the Grip and My Mom has bought me a lens of some description (I gave her a list of some reasonable low end lenses - she has bought one?!?!?)

My 8 month old son had got me a 50mm f1.8 II, though the wife has decided that that will now become a Xmas pressie instead!!

It will run with one as long as it's in the correct side (right from memory but no camera in front of me).

When I got my grip, I reluctantly got a couple of the "generic" cheap batteries on Ebay for $21 with shipping and they work great. They even seem to last longer than the Canon battery too. Just a warning though, Canon won't honor the warranty if the battery explodes in your camera or something.
