I'm still new to this site, but I've voted on the last two challenges, and I have a suggestion to address the not-current-but-inevitable problem of having a very large number of submissions.
I see that the current system works very well, but a few more options would be nice for those who don't have the time to vote on every single photo every week, or don't like to wait for a page full of 200+ thumbnails to squeeze it's way down a slow modem connection.
I propose a voting option that bypasses the large thumbnail page and goes straight to a random photo voting page. The random selection could be weighted so that photos with fewer votes are more likely to pop up.
This option would be great for those that only have time to vote on a few or don't like loading that huge page. And, it evens out the distribution of total votes among the photos. Since it's only a slight addition to the current system, users who like the traditional interface could still use that. Those that like to view and vote on every photo (like me) would be unaffected, but be aware that one day there may be more submissions than any of us imagined.
I'd also propose moving the thumbnails of votes you've already cast to their own page, thus if you only voted on so many in a current challenge, you can tweak those votes, add comments, etc. without loading all the thumbnails.
