Well, I have now been serving my LDS Mission for about a year now in Ohio. I am loving it here ad the fall is much more beautiful here than I ever remember in Idaho. I have taken LOADS of pictures and my old Sony DSC-P72 is slowly dying, plus I am ready to move on. I have finally ordered a REAL digital camera and I am graduated from the P&S and I am STOKED. After much research, I have decided to make he jump to a FujiFilm S9000. I know that some people don't like it as much because it's compared to DSLRs most often, which is cool. I am aware of some of the set-backs compared to a DSLR, but I believe I can overlok that. I mean, xome on, I am oing from P&S to this and I am WAY excited. I have worked out a deal to get it with my parents help, Merry Christmas! I feel that this camera will last me a LONG time.
I'll see if I can get a submission or two in over the next year, I don't get too much time to be on the computer. I look forward to jumping in with both feet in about 11 more months when my mission draws to an end. I'll be sure to post MANY shots upon return. Happy shooting everyone!!! |

What kind of mission are you on?
Congratulations on the camera! I saw that is the one that Deannda got as well....just like a week or so ago. You may want to PM her about how she likes it! :)

Not to rain on the parade or anything, but the S9000 is really still a P&S :)
It's just a high quality P&S
But to be serious.. congratulations. I owned the S7000 before I went dSLR, and it served me extremely well. I just hope they managed to fix the image issues they had on that sensor that resulted from cramming so many MP on it. (I never did find out if they're using a different sensor)

LDS = Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, or Mormon... A large percentage of young Mormon men go on "missions" for their church in their late teens or early 20's.

Your *ist DS is a point & shoot, just as every other digital SLR. I can't think of one made that doesn't have a program mode.
Tecnically the s9000 is a lens-shutter camera, just like my rolli 35. Say a rangefinder without the rangefinder. But for all practical purposes the S9000 is much more camera than what is generally known as a P&S. B&H photo calls their catagory "Advanced Digital Cameras". |

Looking at his profile, probably much better than I'm doing, LOL!
Can't wait to see another S9000 in action
