You know what might be neat? Add a button that will simply take you to any random photo on DPC. If you are in the mood to do some commenting one evening, you can just start hitting the random button. But give the option to opt out (or opt in) of the randomness when a photo is posted to a portfolio by a photographer. All challenge photos would automatically be available.
Also, add some sort of alert to a user that they have received a new comment on a photo, other than a current or just completed challenge photo, so that we know to look and read and mark any random comments as helpful.
Do you think people would use it? |

I like it!
I don't think opt in or out is needed personally.
I think it should have options though as well. Such as any only photos above a certain score. Only photos from the last year. Etc etc. |

| Another plug for the Critique Club - join and you have that button, and the clincher is that it gives you a photo from someone who has specifically asked for a critique! |

A few ideas to tide you over in the meantime:
I've recently started trying to improve my total dismal commenting record so I've been browsing photos by "least viewed," "least commented" or "recently uploaded" (all available on the Browse section under the Photos menu), figuring this would be a good way to hit photos without comments.
You can see comments recently added to your own photos by clicking on the "comments received" number in your stats box on the lefthand side of your profile page. |

| For now, you can keep hitting the 'Photos' button until something grabs your attention. I have found some rather interesting images that way. |
