Thought this might be of interest to some, sounds like an intriguing film. (Just saw it under Netflix's new releases)
This Oscar-winning documentary is a portrait of several unforgettable children who live in Calcutta's red-light district, where their mothers work as prostitutes. Spurred by the kids' fascination with her camera, Zana Briski, a photographer documenting life in the brothels, decides to teach them photography. As they begin to look at and record their world through new eyes, the kids awaken to their own talents and sense of worth.

I saw it in one of the art house movie theaters here in Chicago. It was excellent and I highly recommend it, especially to anyone with an interest in photography. |

I saw this on television a little while back. Very touching & inspirational. She is truelly a wonderful lady for sharing her love of photography with these children in the hopes of them leading better lives...... |

I saw this as well, and it is very touching documentary. One of those great introspections of how lucky most of us here are. How we are lucky to express ourselves through photography while others out there with potentially great gifts at it may only experience that for a moment. I would recommend this to anyone. |
