Hello everyone, My name is Rich Carter, I am located in New Hampshire. I am just starting on the road that many of you have walked or are walking now to become better and more professional at taking pictures. I have seen many here and think they are very wonderful. I have been looking through alot of the forum question and like the responses and atmosphere and hope I can learn alot from all of you here. My website is //www.majestic-photography.com, if anyone is interested I would more than enjoy some feedback from anyone.

Thanks
Rich Carter

Hello,

Welcome to DP. We have lots of fun here and learn much! I like to post a few shots a week on the forums to get feedback.

Check out the weekly challenges and if you enter be wary of the rules for each challenge. My first shot was DQ'd b/c I did read the "instructions"!!!

Again, welcome and I hope to see some photos in your portfolio later this week.

Welcome, Rich, to the crazy family of the most wonderful people on earth. We have a few black sheep in the family and maybe even a few fresh skeletons in the cupbord, but this is the place to learn more than photography!

Majestic Photography

Howdies & welcome. I took a quick peek at yoour website (made it linkable above). My first comment is that a lot of the photos look like they weren't sized for what your webiste is showing at. Some are a bit pixelated. If you use Photoshop, or something similar, there's a good tutorial here. You can apply it to whatever photo dimensions you want to use on your website. There are also lots of other good tutorials in the "Learn" section of this site (see "Learn" link at upper-right of page. I think there's also a tutorial on straightening horizons there, I saw a crooked one on your site.

Cheers & enjoy!

Welcome, Rich... I think you'll have a great time here. Careful, it's addictive!

Thanks again for the welcome, Some links on the website are not working yet, I have been writing it at night and I am new at webpage design. This is why I was asking for people to take a look, do you think they should be all one size and how big do you think they should be? Thanks,

I just took a peek at your website. You have some nice images there.

A few comments about the site itself (I know it's a work in progress).

1) The text colours on the home page could be unreadable as the contrast between the text colour and background colour is quite low.

2) The titles on some of the pictures don't seem to match the picture. Check Wildlife page 1 for examples.

Welcome to DPC.

Hi Rich,

This is a great place to learn more about photography. We have a good mixture of professionals, beginners and everything in between. Folks are nice and helpful.

You may get your toes stepped on occasionally but you will also learn and laugh and make friends.

Welcome aboard :)

Hi Rich,
I am fairly new here also, haven't jumped in and got my feet wet yet with any challenges (I only 'thought' I took good pics until I saw what others can do, I think I'll stand back and learn some more) I guess I am still in the looking around stage....Anyways, I wanted to comment on your webpage. I would use more subdued background and font colors. Its my opinion that the bright bold colors are overpowering the photos. I found it very difficult to look at the viewed link font color (hot pink). Other than that I enjoyed your photos. Good luck.

Hi Dassilem,

I feel the same way looking around thinking of how wonderful alot of the pictures on this site are, But the only way to get better is to keep shooting and learning. Thanks for the input on the color, ans the feedback on the pictures.

Nice to meet you Rich! And its nice to see another New Englander! Welcome.

Take everything with a grain of salt and look under the surface here, theres a lot to learn from if you keep your mind open and look between the lines of comments. LOL

Have fun! Great stuff on your website, look forward to seeing you around!

Welcome aboard. One thing I'd really like to remind you of is follow the challenge details to a T. People with good images get disqualified because of one easy error such as adding their name to their image.

About your site. I think the font colors could be changed to maybe a white or more straight black, especially in the lower gray area. At first the red was too much for me but it kind of grown on you but the fonts have to have something done to them. I personally usually like also if pages are the same, so like when you go to your gallery it looks the same as the front page with the needed changes. I like the clean cut feel of the gallery page and you'll figure it all out soon enough.

Good luck and again welcome to the madness :) Remember you don't have to be crazy to be a member, but man does it help.
