So, I've got the SB-600 and SB-800. But having to manually adjust the flash output when in commander mode just blows. I'd like to have a very long cord connecting my D70 to my SB-800, so that I could use TTL while both flashes are somewhere far from my camera. Does such a cord exist? I could only find the like phone cord type which isn't long enough.
Any thoughts? |

I have an 800 and I thought it would adjust automatically...it doesn't?

You don't need a cord. Set you SB800 as slave and in camera set your flash as commander-iTTL.
Works great for me. Nikon flashes are the best!

I think he has the sb-800 and 600 both in remote mode (two off-camera flashes).
Honestly, your best bet is to fork over another $150 or whatever for a second sb-600...use the sb-800 on the hotshoe, set the sb800 to like -3 so it doesn't affect it much, and use the 600's off-camera.

Also, you're in the same boat I'm about to be in...I'm definately getting the sb800 (i'll have an 800 and a 600) for this reason above, I may just get a 600 as well when i get the 800.

Nikon must have a remote unit like Canon's ST-E2 to control Flash units wirelessly...I'm sure it exists, just not sure where to look for it.

yeah Nikon's is built into the camera. It's not a question of how to control the flashes that he's asking, but how to adjust different flashes for different output from the camera, which can't be done (You can set up all flashes and adjust their output from the camera). But to individually adjust seperate flash outputs from the camera, you need the sb800 mounted on the hotshoe.

You can do that with the ST-E2 on Canon, 3 groups of unlimited numbers of Speedlights with different outputs...I'm sure there must be a similar system available for Nikon.
