Ahh Peter, what to say (((hugs)))

It makes it so much harder to cope with when there is such a great distance between you. When you're talking with them they will probably still be shocked and scared.....but listen, listen to the life in their voices.....they are safe, they're alive......they didn't receive burns. And their friend, the dog, though a bit broken....she is safe too.

You are in my thoughts.......feel the love coming through from your friends, your dpc family.

I'm really sorry for your family.
May God be with you and your family.

Just spoke to all of them! I heard their voices and cried with them, not of sorrow but of joy. They are alive and they will be okay.

And one thing about South Africans worth mentioning, when the chips are down they stand together. The landlord not only returned their deposit but also gave back the rent for the month, Pick&Pay(our Walmart) gave them vouchers to buy groceries for the month, their church, SDA, are in the process of collecting and replacing the furniture they lost, they got clothes and food from people they have never met... !

Michelle is crying still, understandably as they had looked death in the eye and my 2 grandsons are not quite okay. My special son sounds quite upbeat, he believes very simply that God will, and does, provide.

A new beginning indeed. Thanks to all of you my friends, again and again! Kamsahamnida, sarangiyo....!

Hello Peter,
My country, like your home country, suffers these raging fires much more regularly than most. But we still don't ever really get used to it; when it touches us, our families or friends, we just as shocked and hurt as anyone. Your children are safe & with family, and that's obviously the most important thing. As for their recovery, I can only suggest that you look to the land for its lessons. After each of these great southern conflagrations, our land recovers fast. It's not the same, it never can be that, but it IS reborn, fast and strong, every time. They'll do that ... they're children of that land, and they'll regenerate and prosper in just the same way. As for you, they're your children, so you're always with them, wherever you are. Remember, your shared memories are not lost, only some trinkets and symbols of them. Your family's actual memories and shared experiences are independent of the symbols; they are eternal. Just like the land.
I hope your latest contact with your family has brought you some reassurance and comfort.
Best wishes,
Paul

Things move by pretty quick around here lately and almost missed this.

*gulp*
I have little to offer materially, monetarily or in words that haven't already been said, but if there is anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask. That's from the heart Peter.

not only did I spare some thoughts for them but they and your family are in my prayers. May they recover with more blessing than they started with.

Doc-Truly terrible incident but no loss of life is the brightest light coming from such a situation. Hang in there. My thoughts are with you.

Doc
So sorry to hear of this awful experience that your family has born and is continuing to deal with. Everyone has already expressed my thoughts but I'll repeat how glad I am to hear that they are all OK and also how uplifted I am to hear how the community is rallying round.
Bestest for all of you.
