Yeah, I got in an accident earlier today. Backed right up into my friends car. Minimal damage on mine, but 1.5K plus damage on his. This just gets me so aggravated!

The last accident I had was atrucker who decided not to look in his mirrors before merging. Looked like a dinosaur bit my car.
But DBA/Chris Truck Line paid for it :o)

Don't you have insurance? Even liability on your car should cover the damage on his.. |

This is the ritious side, the nice side, the god fearing side talking;
Man, I hope you are ok. Things will get better. Keep striving for those dreams, don't give up, it's just money, you can start again, and by the time you have enough money, a whole new generation of cameras will be available to your picking. It's OK.
This is the dark side, the not so nice side, the dad with three kids side talking;
Damn teenagers!!!!

Well, my parents do not want to use insurance, because the fact that I'm 16, the insurance rate would go up so much more.

A coworker of mine has a 16 year old son, still on his permit. He srta snuck out with the car to go to the store one morning and clipped a parked car. Ummm, insurance is not valid unless there is a licensed driver driving, or one in the car if the driver is on a learners permit. SOOOO, she has to foot the bill, and sonny there gets a ticket.

Yep, I so understand you. I would have had my first DSLR 13 months ago, instead of 5 months ago. Just before I was ready to make the purchase, I got an accident with a friend's brand new shiny Audi A4. Paid him $4K+. Sigh, talking about bad luck... |

Im 16 and a friend of mine took our her moms car at 3 am to go to party. the girl has no license and gets into an accident. Lucklily, the person she hit was pretty drunk. So somehow her dad gets there before the police or anything is even reported and her dad tells the drunk person she hit that he was driving the car, and not his daughter. Somehow it all worked out and she was grounded, but I know my parents wouldnt come outa the house at 3 am after i had just taken their car and gotten into an accident with it.

Are we sharing teenage driving stories? Ok, I will set the example for the youngsters...
At 12 years old, I use to sneak my mom's station wagon out at night about 1am, pick up a friend or two and take turns driving around for 3 or 4 hours and then sneak it back and climb in the window and sleep for an hour or two before school (8th grade). I did this about every other night for 2 weeks before we got pulled over (my friend was driving). Our various stories about why we were out at 3am, driving without a license, etc. did not fool the cop enough to keep us from getting cuffed and hauled home. The next day at the bus stop my friend and I were comparing bruises and lacerations from the ensuing parental rage.
At 13, I used to "borrow" my dad's motorcycle when my parents went out and I would just cruise around the neighborhood. I picked up a friend and we rode around for a bit, then I was heading home - I was one block away from the house - when I passed a cop coming towards me. He looked at me and immediately made a u-turn and immediately made a right turn and hit the gas and never let off the throttle. He was soon joined by about 3 other cop cars who chased me for several miles at 65mph - it was a 175cc Yamaha and with two of us on it - neither of us had helmets and at first, my friend screamed GO! GO! GO! but after several near-death experiences, including one where the cop seemed to try the "fishtail maneuver" on me, my buddy was screaming for me to stop. Too late - no turning back now. I finally got the bright idea to make a quick turn into an Elementary school parking lot and would cut across the ball field. Unfortunately since I had gone into shock about halfway through the chase and I could not let off on the throttle, took the turn too fast and smashed into a light pole in the parking lot, throwing both of us from the bike. My friend flew over me and missed the pole and landed in the grass. I went straight for the pole, head first.
Cops said I was doing 55mph on impact. When I regained consciousness laying on the ground in a large puddle of blood, the cop reached down and asked me to sign the citation before the ambulance took me away. My legs has hit the handlebars at the thighs and I couldn't walk for 3 weeks. My head just got stitched up. No broken bones.
I just turned 14 when I went to court for the citation - racked up 5 violations during the chase. Judge ended up suspending my driving priveleges for 3 years. Never understood that - I was 14 - had another 2 years before I could legally drive anyway! So I ended up not being able to get my license til I was 17.
Ahhhh memories. :)
ps - I said I would set an example - I didn't say which kind. :) |

What?! Doesn't sound like it worked out to me. Sounds like your friend has been taught that deception and breaking the law are not only acceptable, but condoned by the adults who should be teaching her about integrity and responsibility. It's not lucky that the person she hit was drunk. It's lucky she didn't kill that person! |
