Just a little note to let people know that the HRH Queen Elizabeth II's Royal Photographer died this morning at 4am GMT after a large stroke.
He was at the ripe young age of 66 and has been in the proffesion for about 40 years.

He was more than just a photographer, he had a wide range of business interests as well as acting in TV and film.
with all this he still managed to be an award winning photographer, and like his contempory David Bailey was one of the mainstays of Vogue Magazine

I'm not sure about the acting bit! He had a great many interests in restaurants and fashion ( he did model very early on in his life ) and appeared in various TV documentaries on photography. He always was a jobbing photographer who worked hard to become technically good. Not such an instinctive photographer as Bailey, he nevertheless produced outstanding portraits in particular and his position as the Queen's cousin helped him gain access to some very important people. He was one of the earliest celebrated photographers to turn to digital, about 10 years ago. I will remember him as a part of the 60's, growing up seeing his beautiful images. He always seemed a very down to earth man and he will be greatly missed
