I've taken part in two challanges here on dpc (one is still on voting stage) and I had no problems with color change when uploading the picture to this website.
Now I'm taking part in the single light source challange and I think my picture looks very nice but after I upload the picture and preview it, it has lost its "mojo", the colors are gray-ish and dull. I've had no problems in the past on other photography challange websites so im puzzled.
*edit* I use photoshop CS2

You may have been editing in Pro RGB with a larger colour space. Then when you try to save in jpg it looses its punch? |

No, when I preview the image (the 640 pixel one that I saved for the challange) it has all the vibrant colors, it's only after I upload it that it happens.
btw I tried this in photoshop 7 and now it works fine ?????? |

If the image looks different after uploading than it does in photoshop after resizing and reducing filesize to 150Kb, this points strongly towards colorspace issues.

I fixed it, I'm not sure if what I did was right though.
When converting from RAW I used "adobe RGB (1998)", I changed to "sRGBIEC61966-1", anyone care to explain ? |

Yup, that was it. Adobe RGB is a larger colorspace; it can show many more colors than sRGG (screen RGB). When preparing an image for web display you need to assign the sRGB profile to it so you can proof it in that condition. Adobe RBG is more for printing ouput. There many, many colorspaces out there, and color profiles too. For example, I have a customized color profile for my Epson printer, so what i see ont he screen matches the printer's ouput.
