I am looking for some - preferably free - software that I could point at a big list of folders and it could give me stats (distribution, count type stuff) about the fStop, ISO & shutter speed across all the images. Idealy it would allow me to specify a timeframe or lens or provide various filters to see this type of break-up.

Seems like there should be something out there but I cannot seem to find them.

Have you tried IrfanView?

Thanks but it does not seem to have anything like capturing the shooting info and certainly nothing about summarising them. Unless I am missing something that you can point me at..... this is not the thing.

You have to install the plugins

Sorry - Cannot see it after installing the pug-ins. I can see how to get the EXIF for a specific image and I can see how to update the IPTC data (both of which is only available via the plugin, so I know I have it installed).

What I cannot see is somewhere that can show me a report on, say, the ranges of fStop for all images taken with x lens -or- the ranges of shutter speeds I have used for ISO1600 -or- a distribution chart showing each fStop I have used with a count against each values and a filter on x lens e.t.c.

For anybody else who was following this thread (nobody right:), I found something called ImageQuery. If you are used to SQL type queries then this will make sense otherwise it's pretty easy to search for a set criteria. I have not played the real summary type stuff but it's the closest I could find. Oh and it's free :)
