FWIW, I like just plain Lorelei Photography.

I think either are fine. Just not sure which I like better. |

You have the domain for Photography by Lorelei - I'd keep that. :)
So, what are everyone's colors? :)
I need to change mine for the website. I'm going with dark orange, light orange, and white.
I'll update the site in a bit. Those colors will be prominent in everything I do for Syracuse Wedding Photographers.

Photography by Lorelei it is.
Colors.. I was thinking silver and black. Is black too dark? What do you think? Are any colors better than others.
Also I have added a photoreflect site. |

Black white and silver are pretty common. They are classic, but maybe too .. used? Are there other combos that you really like? Something that goes with your photography even?

The Black/ Silver combo is my favorate. I'd have to look at other color combos to see if there are any that catch my eye. I do like blue colors.
So there might be something in that area I can work with.

I am torn between MKT Photography (MKT are my initials), Turner Photography or Mandy Turner Photography? |

I think business names are very personal - as long as they don't violate any real "rules" (like the Chevy Nova in Spain).
Which would you rather hear in 20 years if your studio is your life?
Turner Photography sounds best to me. It's also a somewhat famous name and associated with money.
MKT will probably be pronounced Market Photography instead of EM KAY TEE Photography by some people. Do you like that? I usually love initials, but I'm not sure it's the best in this case.
Mandy Turner Photography is good - it makes it VERY personal. If that works best for you and your community, it's also a good choice.
I would pick Turner Photography because it sounds the most classy, the most long-lasting, and more like a business than using your full name.

I am still here, working OT at my real job and did 4 gigs this weekend. Pretty beat and plenty to edit.
Laura and Mandy I love your cards. I just did my cards for the 5th time over and now I want something else. One day I may keep them longer then 2 months.
I did find some avenues to advertise and can put up flyers at a daycare of 250+ kids and a couple of churches. After the holdiays my marketing plans will change. I also promised a lady she could play in my studio/my lights if I could do three weddings with her. So now I have a way to build my portfolio.
I hopefully have caught up w/the thread. |

I've pretty much decided to go with intitial for the name:
JP Photography. How does something like this look for a business card? |

I like it - the only thing I'm not high on is the gradient purple over the picture. I think it makes the girl look sort of strange. I'd probably stick with either just b/w there or reduce the color over the image by quite a bit.
You could probably make your name a little larger or more prominent as well.
Add a : after phone too. It looks weird to have email:, ordering: and phone without the colon.
:)

Yes, much. What about adding a thin border to the picture - like 2 pixel stroke with the marquee tool? I definitely like the picture better unobscured.

Trying to keep thread a little neater, so I posted the edit with the previous post. I also used stroke on the JP portion. Better? |

The "d" sort of resembles a "b" the way the "w" crosses over it. I would drop the "w" and "photography" down a little more.

Sorry, another question! I had someone mention that by having a portrait on my business card, some folks might mistaken assume that is me? What are your thoughts on that and if I should change? |

Well then, this is my logo.
I didn't really want to pick colors because I really like to change it depending on the photos on the card. As for printing invoices or any paperwork, it will always be in a navy blue. Hope that's professional enough! :0) |

This will be the (slightly weird) logo for my new company. I've chosen to incorporate all 3 of my colors into the logo and give people something they can remember.

So sorry I havent responded to those that have posted to my post. Thanks for the ideas on the name. :) Made me smile. I have been quite ill with the flu and to top that my daughters car was stolen from the movie theatre on Sat nite and recovered on Sun nite minus the engine and most all critical parts that a car should have. So I will be recovering from my flu for the next few days along with working at my real job and figuring out the system about stolen vehicles, truly a learning experience. Just wanted to check in, read the thread to keep up and thank everyone for their responses. Aloha, Renee :) |

I thought it was you. I hope that helps |

I think maybe because it's a headshot and not an obviously "professional posed shot" that it may make people think that's you. I was wondering that - I think if you go with a headshot, it should be your own. Otherwise, you can go with an image that is clearly not a standard headshot portrait to show your work.
