like a cigarette! (anyone remember that song? not relevant really)
So I have a SmugMug account. No big deal. My photos don't get viewed much and very few comments. That is ok. What burns me up is in the past week I have had 4 emails from people who have told me all this 'crap' about those photos and I know they have not even looked at them. That is why I deem what they have told me is 'crap.'
Why do people tell you they have done stuff when they haven't? Do people inherently think others are stupid? Or have no way/won't check?
I don't need a lot of positive reinforcement, but it would be nice that if someone told me they had looked at my photos that they actually had.
This is a strong second to people who chew with their mouth open or otherwise shovel food in their mouth while eating. Popcorn and chips are the worst. Even commercials on TV (which I rarely watch) or the radio with that crunching/mashing sound drive me crazy!

| You were just trying to get people to look at your profile and smugmug account, weren't you? Well it worked. I looked. You've got some nice stuff there. You have quite the eye for garbage. :-) |

No...it really has to do with 4 emails I received in the last 3 days from people telling me they have looked at my smugmug photos and what they thought about them but when I look at the number of views the photos have received, I know they have not actually looked at them at all. And THAT burns me up. Why lie about a stupid thing like that?

Well, I think you are being selfish by not sharing these photos with DPC;)
I don't know what kind of crap, you've been subjected to; but I, for one, was extremely impressed with your work (and I've looked at almost all of what's on your smugmug account.) I think you should post in on your DPC account so everyone here can see it!
OMG: That chewing thing is my worst pet peeve too! Commercials and movies with people munching on food really grosses me out!

One of the reasons I don't go to movies in the theater is the noise of people eating popcorn and the endless rattle rattle rattle of wrappers when people try to open them quietly and end up taking ten minutes to do it. Just tear the damn thing open already!
I had a lot of that posted here on DPC at one point. It never got looked at and never got comments so I figured I would leave it there where it is larger and looks better anyway. The stuff I have here now never gets looked at and never gets comments.
Oh and the endless slurping of the end of the soda. How rude is that? I want to turn around and rip the cup out of their hands and yell "It's gone already!" or when they feel they have to shake the ice around. What is with that?

And it is like this thread - it has been here all of 20 minutes and has had 119 views as of this post and what...two responses? Same with my portfolios.

| My point was really why do people tell you they do stuff when they don't and it is obvious they don't. |

Netflix and DVD's - the ONLY way to go. Bonus, it's also much cheaper! ;^)

Me and you both alienyst ;)
My friends have a tiny internet radio station 10 listener max. SO we can see exactly who is listening and for how long because the listener base is so small it is easy as pie to keep track. You wouldn't believe the amount of people that say they are tuned in and other such nonsense. I usually cuss at them on air, because what would they know since they are not listening ;D
Oh and i'm with you on the chewing too. And smacking gum! Oh thats annoying!!!! |

Chris, your comments made are more than double your comments received. I, for one, have been the lucky recipient of your generous remarks. Thank you!
Here's my advice: Don't be the victim. Screw those people who are BS-ing you. Post your images back up here, and ask for comments! I owe you tons, but I'm too lazy to go to other sites.
And that chewing thing...I've been known to wear earplugs (those spongy ones) to movies. They filter out all of the extraneous noise, but the loud movie still comes through. When chewing comes on TV, I change the channel.

The real question is, why do you care about those clowns anyway? Most actions are based on self-serving motives. If you take them all to heart, you will certainly lose your mind. Just remember: "To thine own self be true." |

Awesome stuff, Dude.
Never knew Massachusetts was that pretty.
I remember when I was a kid, I had a kaleidoscope without the stuff in it, just a lens. Great surreal perspective on the world.
Someone here uses this sig:
Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. ~J.C. Watts
Apparently not everyone has read it yet.

Wow Slippy, that's incredible! All this time I just thought I was a freak. Glad to know that some of my favorite DPCers share this same affliction. In my case it also extends to watching/hearing people kiss/make-out on the screen.

Sorry to go off topic but how do you see how many views a thread has had? |

I often wonder what they do with the boogers they pick...do they eat them? Flick them over to the passenger side of the floor? What? I wish I had a programmable sign on my truck so when I see that I can put in "Hey, you are digging for gold, want a shovel to help with the prospecting?"

Ha! great thread! Thanks Slippy! And ice chewing is the ultimate in being annoying! Especially when done with the mouth open. I am getting chills just thinking about the sound!

| Well now it has 403 views and only a smattering of responses. But the smattering is a great read. See what they miss by not contributing? It could be a classic read if they all put in even their 1 cent worth. |

I've had that exact same wish. I even formulated an idea for an LCD display along upper part of rear window that would send my typed message to people following behind. It wasn't so much inspired by booger eaters as tailgaters and stupid lane-changers, though.

Wow...you people are fast...I found a link as well but it does not top this! Nice find Roxanne! Slippy should be thinking now...or perhaps not...depends on which brain he is using. And we all know which brain he is using! ;)) (joking slip I hope you know)
