to user 'zitzu'... sorry I appeared to have 'stolen' your concept for a photo from your reflections challenge entry. I didn't vote on that challenge, nor did I see your photo before shooting my own for the 'transparency' challenge. your photo is great and I apologize if you thought I was trying to rip you off.

More than one person can have the same idea! I wouldn't stress over it! How many times have we seen fruit dropped into bowls of milk and cream etc on this web site and no one complained that it was their idea first!
They are similar but different in their own way! |

true, but I took some 'heat' for this and just wanted to set the record straight.

I know you did. And you're probably being polite in apologising. Just don't let it get to you. |

It's funny, but the "heat" didn't come from the photog himself - he didn't say anything bad in your comments. Sounded more surprised, perhaps flattered...and he did include a smiley. ;^)
Now his friend's comment is a bit different story.
Either way, I wouldn't sweat it. Ideas cross paths frequently here at DPC and besides - anyone that's been here awhile knows you as a frequent forum contributor and commenter. Another example just by your posting of this thread as to your integrity...

Boy, if those hollywood producers were anywhere polite as you are, we would never have second, third, even four differant interpretations of the same old thing.
If an idea could be trademarked, then I would be a wealthy man.
Your interpretation is just that, so don't let the wolves try and scare your creativity.

You dont have to give credit to every bit of inspiration you get. These aren't emmys. |

I commend you for apologizing, I got a comment about my entry being a TIRED idea? Well it may be tired for some, but for newbies like myself who havent spent years in trying to do more then casual photography, there isnt much I have done that others have, and probably if I spent enough time viewing the hundreds of thousands of pics on here to make sure my idea was original, I likely wouldnt come up with an original that someone hadnt done some form of before. Take their comments with a grain of salt and go on. Thats my view of it.

We all get comments that are offensive when we look at them. i tried hard on one of mypics and had someone tell me it was NOT creative... even though i spent a while setting it up to what i liked..
i blew it off... didnt check the box for the comment... and went on :)
as for someone telling you that you copied someone... I bet we could go through everyone of his/her pics and find one already here close to how it is..

If he gets to claim the imagery from "the creation of man" as his own, can i get the exclusive rights to borrow from the rest of the Sistine chaple? |

You could drive yourself crazy trying to avoid duplication. There are always those who are offended to see someone do something that has been done before. If they can't find an example on this site, they will look elsewhere to prove that you "stole" the idea. Regardless of where your inspiration came from, you deserve the benefit of the doubt; as well as respect for your interpretation. Sorry you didn't get that:( You could avoid this dilemna by researching the enire challenge archives to make sure your idea is truly original. Or you could just follow your creative instincts and forget about those crabby people with too much time on their hands. After all "There is nothing new, under the sun."
I've entered a couple images that I truly thought were unique, and would be the only ones in a challenge, only to find that others had the exact same idea, at the same time. I don't see how your situation is any different than that. So don't let 'em get to ya'!
