Spider eating "something".
The background is a "mop". I took about 20 shots and this was the only one that had the mop in the background and it came out the best. I'm thinking that the mop helped with the lighting.
D70 with 60mm 2.8 Nikon Macro lens. SB800 flash held in left hand pointing in from the left. Fired by remote.
1/250 f9.5
Photoshop color burn, USM, Saturation.
Comments for improving my pre-photoshop MACRO shooting needed!

nice macro, very sharp pic, might have been nice to spray the web with water, or get the flash at an angle to bring out the web.

What sort of angle for the web? I'm new to this and need to know!

dunno really, just have to try different angles till you get the silly thing to show up i guess, you'd probably need a darker background, but then the spider wouldn't have as much contrast. It's just a suggestion.

The only spider web shot I ever did was against a darker background, so I think that would help the web show up. The other thing I did was use the flash, which helped the strands show up immensely. I think I approached it slightly from one side, instead of straight on....but don't know if that works every time. |

Yes...I've seen your shot! It is great. How many shots did you take to get this one? I'm new to Macros. Also, my shot was at night but the one that happened to have the "white mop" in the background came out the best.

Ken .. I was lucky .. the spider built it's web in the trees above the deck .. I think I only took 5 shots to get this one ... way more than lucky :) |
