fix this for me? If it's even possible? I've messed around with it in PSP, but no luck. I don't know if it's too sharp, or it's just the size of it or what. Thanks to anyone who wants to mess with it.

Greetings,
Perhaps an explanation of what you see as being wrong with it, and would like fixed might help....

To me looks too far oof to do much with, but I am not - by any means - a digital photograph wizard. Also, is that the original, untouched photo? If not, probably better to let others start from there, imo.

Well it seems blurry for one. Maybe I messed with it too much lol. Are the colors okay. I'm not doing anything with it really, just wanted to know what could be fixed? |

How about something like this? (going for something of a painterly look)

You really need to define "Fixed" - what is it for? A pic you just want to make something artistic out of? A picture for a catalog of flowers? Your desired purpose is needed to determine the course of action.
I think it could be made into a moderately interesting piece of art. Here's a quick smattering of throwing some edits at it:

I suppose something artistic. And I was wondering if there was a way to make it clearer. I really don't have any plans for it. I like the last one though. I'm just getting into this and was wondering if it was something worth working with or not. WOndering if it was a good angle ect.

kpriest- did you use photoshop to do that?
I have a plugin called flaming pear that has something on it called kyoto colors, I think I may be able to do something like that with it. I'm guess you adjusted the hue, saturation and brightness. Though I could be wrong! Since I am a newbie at this lol. |

Well, if you don't have any plans for it...
To be honest, I think the planning part is very important; from the moment you have an idea for a shot, right through to how you visualise the final image. |

jen, that's really cool. can you tell me how you removed all the background from the image entirely. Are you using PS? |

Well not every pic I take has plans lol. If I see something I like, I take a go at it.
To be honest though, this was one of the many shots I took for "Delicate" and decided to use something else instead. Maybe this would have done better lol.
I really like this shot though and the colors would go nice in my bathroom. I may get it printed and hang it in there. Other then that I haven't really thought about it.
Butterflysis I really like that.

Yes I used Photoshop, but I don't remember exactly what I did - I think I used Gothic Glow action, the just desat everything but the flower parts, sharpened a little, adjusted something or other. It's one of those things that if you want to make something out of it, you just keep mucking with it. Would be better to have a larger resolution image to start with though.
I disagree that you have to plan a shot in advance to make something out of it. Sure, if you are going for something specific, you should, but doesn't mean you can't get something good from random shots.
Have fun. |

Hey guys! Love what you've done with the pic. I'm just as new(bie) to this as missinseattle so was also wondering how you changed those. Is that something I can do on photoshop elements 3? I didn't even know how to crop or add a border to my challenge entry :( so any advice would be super helpful. Much thanks! |

Okay very bizzare, but I posted another reply and it's not here lol.
Anyhow, I guess I'll mess around with it some more in PSP. I'm still learning THAT program and it's capabilities and I don't have a lot of time to fool with it lately. I really like the one you did rsm. I'll have to see if I can do something similar.
Phat, don't feel bad, I know how to crop and frame, border, ect, I just fail to do so lol. |

Thanks, Michelle. I used the "Extract" tool in Photoshop. Once in the extract tool used "smart highlight" to select the plant and glass. Then using the paintbucket (while still in extract) I fill in my selection. That extracts the flower and glass. Hit "OK". I then added a shadow to that selection on the layer. I also used some type of paint filter (dry brush or something).
Hope this helps.
