Okay, as some of you may have noticed, my last 2 entries were submitted using my cell phone camera. This is due to the fact that I have a bent CF pin in my camera which will cost upwards of £100 according to a few shops I've asked in. Now, do I shell out £100+ to get my 300D working again, or do I upgrade after 3 years? (or is it 2, I can't remember).

This weekend (and this weekend only) Jessops are holding a DSLR sale! I'm very tempted to upgrade to a 350D. It will cost £525 in the sale, but Canon are offering a £100 cashback option if I purchase using a Mastercard (which my parents could possibly do for me). This would mean a real price of £425. Take off the £100 that I'd need to spend to fix my 300D and thats a not-so-bad price of £325. However, as I'm a student (poor!), it's still a fair chunk of money. But maybe it's something worth spending some of my student loan on?

What do you all think? Will I notice much of a difference in the 350D? Or should I just stick with my old and tired 300D? How much of a difference has it made to anyone who has upgraded from one to the other? Would I notice more of a difference upgrading to a 10D from a different retailer for a similar price?

Thanks for any advice :)

I think you should purchase it, because you do get a 100 dollar rebate. then you can take that 100 fix your rebel and sell it for 200 or 300 and get back some of the money for your XT.

i love my 350D :-)

ummm, i have used a friends 300D and raw in 350D is a lot better and i cant live without the 8mp in the 350D (full res. stock photography)... and i like the smaller and lighter black body better and the cooler shutter release noise, and the fact that the 350D is much faster... but apart from that i think they are pretty much the same. This is a hard decision to make! You might also consider fixing your 300D and then selling it to cover some of the costs of getting the 350D.

Good luck!

edit - typo

Ya, maybe you should just buy some lenses for your camera phone. :-)
