As a little gray person, without portfolio, I am not sure how my opinion on something as fundamental as Challenge Rules should or will be received, but here goes.

I certainly understand the prohibition on the reuse of submissions, after all we do like to see new works. I have, however, found two entries in this weeks open challenges which have started me thinking about the concept of simultaneous submissions. Both images work extremely well for both topics, and I think creativity on that level deserves recognition.

I haven't checked back, but if its the intent of the 'powers that be' that during each week one challenge reflects a technical aspect and the other an artistic interpretation, then the possibility always exists for these crossover entries.

I want to say thank you to the other residents of this site for allowing me to critically examine their work. It has certainly been an eye-opening and eye-sharpening experience pending my own plunge into peer review photography.

Even if you could submit the same photo twice, you couldn't use it for both open challenges since they are exclusive (you can't enter both even with two separate photos).

Hint: while you can't enter the same shot in two challenges, you CAN take two shots of the same scene. As long as you're entering two different originals, it's legal (provided you can even enter both challenges, as Kearock pointed out).

Ok, thank you both for your replies. I had missed the exclusivity clause. I'm still in the process of commenting of entries and had actually come back to edit my post with the fact that there are numerous entires that obviously would have done well in both challenges.

My compliments to the founding Mothers and Fathers, whose wisdom often humbles the neophites.

i really apologize for posting this, it has nothing to do with the conversation, to be honest I didn't even read any of the previous posts. I couldn't find an answer, I emailed and no one answered. I need an official answer, I don't want to start a debate, but are photographs of cannabis allowed on this site. Not people using it, but the actual flower in artistic and tasteful ways.

Big fat gold star to Jammur, nearly four hundred comments in less than one month, and none received. Input like that is appreciated by all! Now you just need to submit so we can repay your generosity.

From what I remember of our past decisions, depicting the substance itself is fine, as long as it doesn't encourage the use of it (to paraphrase the T&C).

thank you for your answer, im glad you and dpchallenge are mature enough to accept these wonderful photos. The plant offers so much in the areas of color/shapes and beauty, which can fit certain challenges. Searching for this answer in other threads was useless, everyone turned into a debate of legalization or whether or not weed is bad. I really don't care, I just want to photograph it.

In the future, please either PM a member of the Site Council or start a new thread if you can't find one that's already on topic. :)

i did email someone a few days ago with no response, i am new here and don't even know how to start a new thread. i just looked for a thread that was active and had people on it today. by the way, my question kind of fits the title of this thread. I wanted to know if i would be dq for certain pics and this was a challenge rules thread. You seem to know all the answers (not to be taken condescending), please expand on my question.
