When I make duotone in photoshop (after grayscaling it) i cannot save the pic back to jpg... how comes...

You need to go and change it back to RGB color before you can save to jpg. :-) Took me the longest time to figure that out.

Photoshop's Duotone format is a proprietary one, actually comprising a single grayscale image and two sets of "transfer functions" which act to alter the grayscale data separately for each color.
The only formats which recognize this format are Photoshop and EPS. It was originally developed for offset printing use, when separate (B&W)printouts have to be made for each of the colors (to be combined on the press), whereas most computer printers (inkjet, laser, photo-imagers, etc.) only produce a composite image, and need the actual color data. |

I thought people might want to know why it doesn't work. I love working in the duotone format (I work in the printing biz) and recommend it. It also is a good way to learn how tone curves work for your color and B&W work as well -- there's a nice tutorial on it here. |
