I'm so excited! Two of my pictures were chosen for the San Luis Valley Calendar printed by the Alamosa, CO newspaper - the calendar came out with today's paper. Since I hadn't heard from them for weeks and weeks since submitting the photos I thought that I hadn't had any chosen for the calendar. My husband spotted them first when he was looking through the paper, it was such a neat surprise. They included my name and the little blurb I wrote for each picture.
Here are the two that were chosen:

Congrats, Sammie, I'm surprised you haven't published stuff before, your stuff is so nice.
Instead of doing it for free, next time for people who have no budget, ask for a dozen calendars. Or two dozen. Often they'll be happy to compensate you that way.

Tomorrow, I'm going to call the newspaper and see if I can get a few extra Calendars for family and friends. We only managed to find a couple of extra papers to buy in the machines around La Jara. |

Thank you all very much for your congratulations, kind words and encouragement! It really means a lot to me.
Belonging to DPC has really been a good thing for me, I would have never dreamed of starting to make a go of being a "photographer" at my age if I hadn't joined DPC in March 2004. It makes me feel like I'm young and at the beginning of something wonderful instead of at that over the hill age of 50 when life is downhill from now on. Having something you can look forward to and strive to do better at - is a very good thing in life.
