Hi there,

I recently covered an event at the local university for their homecoming event. I shot the event for credit if my images got published. Today I received an email from their publications deptt. that they liked my photographs and would be publishing them. Also they asked me for a 'rate sheet' if they want to use me for their future events.

I have no clue about what a rate sheet is like and ofcourse no clue about what to charge, is it hourly basis or is it for the whole event ? Any help with this regard is highly appreciated.

Oh this is the link to the event I covered for them
SJSU

thanks,
Gaurawa

A rate sheet is just a summary of how you charge so they can get an idea of what hiring you will cost before contacting you.

Nice shots BTW. That shot with the girls crammed into the photo booth is great.

Rates could be all over the place but here are some basic ways my company breaks down charges.

-Half Day
-Full Day
-Set-Up Fees
-Per-Shot Used

Depending on the client, the manpower needed, print jobs you might get from the shoot, licensing, the equipment needed, the travel time all the pricing may vary.

A lot depends on what the market will bear, your experience, their budget, the immediacy of the need, sales skill etc.
