Last week in a thread (I searched everything I can remember from the thread and still have not found it) someone mentioned that during the review of your photo on the 20D, if you so something (press a button perhaps?) on the LCD screen blown out areas of the photo would be shown.
I can find nothing in the manual about this. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks in advance. |

From memory, I think that you get that information (flashing black & white) if you review your shots in 'info' mode, with the histogram enabled.

Yup. If you press the info button, it will change modes. You'll want the mode that shows part histogram, part thumbnail. |

Is this in the manual and I have missed it? I have been reading the thing endlessly and have found nothing.
Thanks for the answers! |

I'm not sure if it's in the manual. That's only a last resort for me. ;) Someone locally actually pointed it out to me. |

I took it out to find details on this and have found none. Since I could not find the thread it was my last resort and then it hit me like a baseball bat swinging at a fast pitch in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and two strikes - post a thread and ask! |

Thanks Bear! I had only gotten up to 80 something. I read the whole manual when I got the cam but this just didn't register. Guess I was more worried about all the rest of the new stuff I had to learn and this just got missed.
And as a secondary question, does the 350XT also have this function? |

You should also be able to set the camera so that the "info" screen, with image, histogram, and blinking highlights, comes up be default during review. Although the review image is much smaller, you get the histogram, which IMO is more valuable than a larger image. If I want to review the image more extensively, I can do so at my leisure, but during shooting I want to see the histogram.

Right. This is what I meant when I originally brought it up in the other thread and is the way I have mine set. |

Yes, I see that now. I have always gone the route of no image display at all after a shot and rarely view the images after I shoot. I have done this to save battery power. But this seems like something that could be very useful.
Again, thanks for the responses. |

Yes. Very handy... Histo on the right, small thumb with blinking blown out areas on the left.
Note: Luminosity only, not individual RGB channels.
