Are you using a reflector at all? (I have one I made from tin foil and cardboard!) - Found it useful for filling shadows, and easier to control than fill flash.

I have never done any kind of shooting like this, so I'm really not qualified to make suggestions, but I just wanted to say that I like the poses a lot better this time, especially the one of him sitting against the tree. And he looks a lot more relaxed.

Good luck to both of you!

I haven't read the whole thread , so this may be a repeat. ..but I think the background needs to extend all the way to the floor and under the model. some of the poses look a bit suggestive with the spread legs and not sure if this is what you want. I think the skin tones could use some light airbrushing for smooth tones. If you would like to e-mail one I will show ya what I mean.

Okay, I like the exposure better but it's too sharp, you know? You are right about the background, it's too bright, in focus. Hope you don't mine, here is your redone shot with a gothic glow applied:

It's an action I've downloaded that goes through and automatically sets it up. You can even burn around the edges to make him stand out even more.

he is wanting a few different looks for his portfolio and one of them is a more sexy look. still looking for some "sexy" male poses that arent just for the body builder/model.

Some of the best advice I got on how to shoot a wedding, to get teh 'look' brides want (and will pay for) is to read what they read - the bridal magazines. (not that i've done this...). So read Cosmo or similar magazines that have men selling things while looking sexy and copy that pose/crop/lighting/look in your shots.

The sexiest pose in the world to me is a man, just sitting casually with a natural smile on his face that reaches his eyes and he can be looking at the camera or not, doesn't matter. Here's an example: Robert Redford, very sexy.

Matt Damon, can't even see his eyes but OH SO SEXY!

Harrison Ford, again, not even looking at the camera but ooooooooooooooh baby!

It's got to be natural. This one of him is not a good look for him IMHO, It just doesn't look right, almost childish as well as this one:

But this one: is almost there, just a little more smile.

And this pose? My 10 year old said, "That the most girliest pose I've ever seen!" Now if this is a young model they are going to want to appeal to the teen to young woman set. That pose looks very unnatural for some reason. Have him lean back on one elbow. laying the front leg out while the back leg is bent or draped over the front leg. And if he ever shows up with that shirt again, BURN IT! :)

Get him in white, lighter colors, they look good on him, and some tight shirts as well as the sweaters, he's got the body, show it off! :)

Just my 2 cents worth and that's about all it's worth

this pose was just for fun and mostly for me. we were talking and goofing off(as usual) and I snapped it off. I told him that one was my black mail photo and that he would have to pay me to get it deleted(hee~hee)

Use of natural light is better than your studio shots. The model seems more comfortable now. Some of the poses are good, but some are not the male-model kind, specially #3 that's a female pose and not for a male model, no way !!
#1 also has a female pose touch, #2 is ok
#8 and #9 need more space around the model, too tight.. same with #12
give more room on top on #10
on #11 background is too lighted compared to face, post processing can't give you good results. shooting is shade is not a requirement, you can shoot in sun too, use reflectors and it can work, with such contrast on subject and background, flash won't work ( or else make very flast if increased power )

You did a good job, but I don't think they are ready for submission to any model agency

walmart had the winshield reflector on clearance last night for $2! I got a jumbo silver(actually 2 pieces) and a soft grey. I didnt know which one to get so i got them both. looks like the shiney silver is the one to use. I might pratice technique with that today. joe went back to the doc yesterday and found out that his face was having an allergic reaction to noxema! should be all cleared up in another feew days. thank god! his face has always been so smooth and blemish free. I finally have my beautiful model back! woot woot!
