I travelled to St. George, Utah this weekend watch my daughter compete in a swim meet (those pictures are still to being looked at). These are some of the images I captured on the way there and back.

I was going for "bold colors" in these images. Tell me if I've gone too far...

Yes, the colors are bold - but I've been to southern Utah and you've caught the colors as they are at the prime light. You've got some very nice shots. I especially like the 1st two.

BTW, it seems you are as busy as always.

Thanks Becky! The colors really were fairly bold to begin with. I was playing with the new RawShooter Premium for the first time today. These colors were set pretty much at the raw conversion stage with only a little bit of photoshop work done in the end (mainly Local Contrast USM and Sharpening USM but #2 used a little Dodge & Burn to get the emphasize the highlights as well).

This is lovely, could you share how you achieve this effect, the soft dreamy look? Gorgeous colors.

Thanks Lori! By the way, you left the above on image #2. It's interesting because I didn't do anything special for a "dreamy look" on that particular image. I believe image #1 has an overlay filter layer with gaussian blur (about 40 px radius) at about 25% opacity. This technique, with varying degrees of opacity and blur radius, is where I usually turn for a dreamy look.

But image #2 ... the only thing "special" about it was a little Dodge & Burn to add a little more light to the building and especially the area surrounding the car. (It's where I would have liked the sun to have fallen had I had time to stick around and wait for the clouds to move)

It seems like I'm usually in too big of a hurry to stop the car and take pictures. Or... even if I'm not in such a big hurry, I have people in the car and I just don't want to make them "have to wait" while I stop and shoot.

This time, however, my daughter was on the bus. And while I missed *many* opportunities on the way to St. George. At one point I accidently got ahead of the bus (they pulled over for lunch and I didn't know it until she called me). So then I decided I had time to shoot! :-)

One of these days, I want to just take a trip for myself and go shooting...
