I have been ready with my photos for the Strange-challenge all week but I can´t decide which one to submit. I know it happens to everyone all the time and my dilemma is:
a) shall I submit a really "strange" one that is not so technically good or
b) shall I submit a technical good shot that is not so "strange"?
I have people around me to ask for advice but they are just "ordinary viewers" (no photographic experience).
So the question is actually:
What´s most important for the Dpc-voters - technical quality or following the challenge (if you can´t have them both)?

I think this is one that you will probably have to work out and hope you did the right thing. I am in a similar fix, but mine is with using the right "Intelligent/Creative" title. I had all of my family helping with a title last night and came up blank. Of course my pictures are more outside the box each time anyway so what the hay, just have fun. |

I'm sorry to say this, but you'll do much better with a shot that is technically good than the one that is totally "on topic". Of course, it it's technically great and it has nothing to do with the challenge, you'll get marked down. Not too many winners in the past were technically weak.
Go with your gut feelings, but remember that technical flaws will not go un noticed with the voters, even if it's the wittiest picture our there.
Good luck. I have absolutely no idea what I'll be submitting this week.

When I have 2 shots I can't decide between I always go for the one which I would most like opinions on. I usually regret it for a short while early on Monday morning, but usually get a comment or 2 that prove useful (or at least I used to - this week I have my worst ever score by a long way and 1 comment).
While I agree that you're unlikely to win with a technically flawed shot, it won't necessarily stop it from doing well. I have had 6+ scores on shots that are far from my best work (Big Football Woman springs to mind again!).
