i'm quite new to digital photography, actually to photography. My question is how do you work with layers or how do you actually get it to work full stop. i'm using photoshop 7 and elements 3, i'm in need of some simple instructions to get started. |

It depends on what you want to do with the layers. Hold on, I'll do a forum search for ya.

I'd recommend the two Basic Photoshop threads, Bear_music is da man. And also the Digital Color thread is great. Read them all.

Check out the tutorials link under "Learn". There are a lot of good "how to" tutorials for getting started. |

I haven't read everything, but I have 2 books on ps elements, looked at a couple of tutorials, and I still can't figure out how to manipulate the layers. Anyone know of a source simple enough for a first grader? (We'll pretend I don't have a college degree--but it's in business and that is NO help to me at this point). I thought I would see all my layers on the work space and could choose one crop, change, whatever, then pop it into place and see the effect. |

We have a basic photoshop thread that discusses layers and workflow, among other things, here.
