Since I'm all new to photography I just want opinions on how I'm doing and what I can do to improve. This is a photo I took of our 4yo daughter the other day. I changed it to bw in psp and softened it a tad.

Your link isn't working unless you cut and paste it.

I like the image. Looks a little soft and a little bright...especially around the chin - it is lost. The feeling or mood it evokes is good though.

Ty Alienyst. That did fix it.

The title is "Looking For Heaven"

In case that helps any lol.

So how do I change that? Do I use a different b&w setting? I use psp8 if that helps.

I like the image but wonder if you did anything to the foreground tree. It apears to be that her hair is pressing up on the tree but in the photo it seems as thought she is pasted into the photo around her hair.

I didn't do anything to the tree. Maybe it's the way I softened everything. I'll post a link to the original photo before changing to black and white and softening.

She is wedged in between 2 trees. Maybe that is why it looks pasted?

Funny thins is that I was trying and it kept coming out the same as hers which is why the post is edited. But thanks for calling anyway.

For the most part, I like the image. The only thing that's really distracting (to me) is the crop right at her neck. Showing more of her shoulders I thing would help (about 1/3 to 1/2 way to the elbow).

A general rule of thumb in portraiture is not to cut off at any major joints etc.
