I am trying to find at least a 2GB card. If cheap enough I will buy 2. I have found some 50X 2GB for $108 after shipping. I have three questions before I buy though.
The memory for that price is Kingston. I have used them before and they are great.
1: Any thoughts on brand?
2: Should I go with a higher speed or is 50X ok?
3: Also anyone know of anywhere else cheaper?

Wow, good price! I am curious on the responses. With my 300d I the 40x has been fine (but my camera is slow..lol) so I imagine a 50x would be fine. When I bought my first CF card, 40x was considered professional. Now Lexar's 80x is the professional one.

to let you know where I got that price.
//www.pricewatch.com
once you select flash memory then you can select Compact memory. That price was from //www.newegg.com and I have ordered from them before.

But will the 300D take advantage of the speed? |

No, it will not. :) Do you know if the 20D does? Upgrading soon...getting yet another CF card. |

The info at Rob Galbraith Compact Flash database for 350XT will tell you what speed your camera can take advantage of.
Personally, I'd get two 1 gig cards so that I can leave one in the camera while I take the other to the computer to unload it. That will likely cost you slightly more, but it's worth it to have a spare in case a card is lost or damaged. But that's only my 2 cents.

Yeah. I agree with you. The largest cards I will use are 1 gig cards. I have a few of them and I feel it's better if one ever goes belly up than a larger card! |

I don't have a laptop so when I go out to shoot I have to have max storage in my cards. I will likely buy 2 - 2GB cards. I need more storage only because I am going to start trying to shoot in RAW format.

Have it and love it.
No problems with mine on the Rebel or the II N, unlike my old Lexar 80X pro CF card.

The kingston 2GB? |
Yup, Kingston 2GB Pro 50X CF, also have the Kingston 1GB 60X Pro CF, and Kingston Ultra 2GB 120x SD card. All without any problems.
I've had the Lexcar pro 80X crash on my rebel even though I checked their site and they said the it didn't have any incompatibility issues and have seen Sandisk Ultra SD card crash on a fellow photogs 1D mark II once as well.

Thanks for the info. I am guessing I can hold about 200 photos on a 2GB shooting in RAW. That would give me roughly 500 shots. I will buy 2 -2GB and I already have a 1GB

Rex, I use the 2GB SD card as the main storage in the II N and use the 2GB CF card as a back up/2nd storage. The 2GB holds well over 200 images. I shot 237 (in high ISO) till it filled and mine is a 8.3MP vs your 8.0 MP sensor, so I figure if you shoot in ISO 100 only, then perhaps 250 or so.
BTW, Kingston uses a Samsung component, who happens to be the worlds largest memroy chip maker from what I hear.
