You know I hate to break it to you but we're not psychics *gasps* and maybe too lazy to search for orkut. A link would have been nice.
orkut.com I guess is what you're talking about. You gotta specify cause Orkut's a quite common name in turkish :P
And yeah I have no idea.

sorry.. yeah i shoulda had a link... i just heard of it today.. but thought maybe it was as common as MSN messenger which i imagine i DON'T Have to explain what that is.
but orkut isn't a messenger type program cause google has 'google talk' so perhaps it is a chatting SITE... or something...

Technically, it's one of those social networking sites, like Friendster or NMySpace or Facebook or...etc. You create a profile (not always for dating) and then link to your friends and connect with your friends' friends through that.
And it's actually called Orkut because it's named after the Turkish guy who created it. |

| It's apparently *very* popular in Brazil (I have brazilian friends who are members of orkut and they tell me it is really popular). I'm probably just too old to 'get it'. I'm a member as well (because of my friends down there) but don't ever use it. |

| I haven't ever used Orkut (and can't view it at work) but the other sites provide private messaging, bulletin boards, special groups, etc. You basically do in cyberspace what you'd do if you were looking to network with people in real life...meet someone who knows someone who knows someone. You list your interests and link to other people with similar interests or search by location or whatever. Then you leave messages vouching for all your friends so everyone knows how awesome they are. |

| I have been a member for a long time, I guess I became the member in the first 2 days when it was introduced. This is what happens when you are in the silicon valley :D but I don't use it anymore. |
