I'm wrinting this lines with tears in my eyes.
My entry in wide angle as been disqualified. The date on the file was 2099. I didn't realize before the DQ, but all my recent files are date 2099. I must have put this accidentaly and know I'm paying for my lack of attention.
The proud and honor that I've felt in winning that ribon was still fresh. It's now stained with a dq because a stupidity from me. I will have to draw back my submission to the delicate because the year in the date will be the same.
But what I can not belive is that the image and all the nice comments that everyone had made was taken from my portfolio, as if it was put in to jail. I've been dq but for good sake the image is still mine! This shouldn't have hapenned! Why was it removed? And shouldn't the image be cheked before the final result? Before it is put in to public?
So take back the ribbon and five me my image back, so I can go to a corner to cry with it.
A final regard: thank you all again that helped to put a ribbon, even that it was only for a day, in my image. It ment the world to me.
Sorry but the tears don't let me see the screen anymore....

Too bad Nuno, a real shame. However, your image should be preserved in the challenge, at the bottom of the list, with all comments intact!
Yes, it's there.

Hey, Nuno, ithappened to me too, when I got my 20D. 12-hour error in the time stamp, shot a ribbon-winning image at dawn of the day the challenge was announced, and it stamped to the evening before :-( If it happened to me, it can happen to anyone... Your picture's still there, your comments are still there, just like mine, at the bottom of the stack. But I made the mistake of reposting the image in my landscape portfolio, since people wanted to see it, instead of moving the actual challenge entry over, so now I have TWO sets of comments and favorites on that image instead of one...
Dumb....
Robt.

Hey Nuno... don't let a silly DQ get you down. The date/time thing happens frequently, it's not a personal attack, just a rule we must all abide by. Can you go and re-shoot your Delicate entry?

It is a lovely image and you're definitely not the first person to get a DQ for date stamp issues. Update you camera time and good luck in the future. |

That's too bad, I'm sorry for you, but stuff like that happens. Don't feel too badly about it, just keep shooting & you'll get another ribbon eventually!

You are absolutely right - it should be checked - BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER BEFORE submitting it. |

Um, they're all here. All the comments you got during & after the challenge.
Is that what you were looking for?

Find pride in the fact that you created a photo that scored well enough to place. A small mistake on camera setup, takes nothing away from the quality of the photo. Can't wait to see your comeback photo! |

I am so sorry on your DQ. I loved your image, infact, I gave it a favorite. Atleast you know that you HAD a ribbon. Good luck in the future with your entries. I'm sure that they will be equaly great. |

For what it's worth, in the challenge folder, it says right on the frame that it was originally a 3rd place finisher - and that the reason for disqualification was a date error ( all too common these days ). So your high finish is preserved, if only historically. And we all know the story of what happened.
I was just on vacation in Hawaii and forgot to reset my cameras to -6 hours when I got there. When I checked, I realized that if I had entered a night shot that was timestamped for 3 pm ( the time it would have been in Florida ), it would have been DQ'd if it was challenged.
We must ALL learn to check our date/timestamps before shooting, especially if we are doing it for a challenge.
My sympathies, Nuno. I can only guess what a disappointment this is. But I'm sure that you'll be in the top again, and validated next time. Don't let accident deter you. |
