This is my shot I am very happy with my score. What I am wondering is if it was apperent why I kept the flare as a part of the photo. For me it added the element of god shinning down on the cross. Was this apperent or just to distracting? Thank you for any feedback.

Didn't really notice the flare to be honest. I thought (and given the title) that the shadow was the main subject. So that's where my attention was focussed. |

The flare is not distracting to me that much and I agree with your explanation of how it could add to the photo.
The only two downsides I see in peoples eyes are:
1. The sky is all white and doesn't add to wow factor of the church.
2. When doing wide angles of buildings and straight lines, it is difficult to stay away from distasteful distortion. And sometimes it makes the building look lopsided in a way....
your life is good photo wins praise from me though....

I "got it" when I was voting, but you still only got a five from me.
My biggest problem is that to me "wide-angle" connotates width, not height. I know that height is a valid interpretation, but I just don't like it as much as width. There's also something vaguely wrong with the composition, though I can't quite put my finger on what it is, or how to fix it. I think it has something to do with the gold detailing on the lower half of the building. I just can't put it into words.
But yes, your message was apparent to at least some of us. |
