I have submited a pic for the b&W challenge. How do meet the constrains for the sizing? By the time I got the file size small enough the pic was to small and I am getting counted down for it. I am new to digital photography and used photodeluxe to shrink the photo and reduct the dpi. for my photo I have already reduced the dpi by 1/3 of what it was. The pic started at 5.9 Mb so to go to 150 Kb was a big jump. Any advice is appreciated!! Thanks, maken-waves
Here is the pic:

To start, crop your photo within the specified limitation in PIXELS (e.g. 640x480) and save-as in TIFF or "native" fomat for your software. Then, use "save-a-copy" to save the file under a different name with whatever level of JPEG it takes to reduce your particular image to smaller than 150k. The more detail in the image, the more compression you'll need to apply.
Do Not continually re-size the image smaller, and ESPECIALLY DO NOT continually re-save a file in JPEG format, as each time you do you sacrifice some image quality.

Hi Ken,
First off, it is an unwritten rule that we don't discuss specific photos in the current challenges. You may like to edit your post to remove the link to your image.
To get your image within legal dimensions/filesize forget about dpi. Resize your image to 640x480 or whatever size you want then save it as a high quality jpeg. If the filesize is above 150kb, reduce the jpeg quality a touch and resave. Do this until it's small enough.
I have had no problems submitting at 640x480 with jpeg quality between 75% and 95% depending on the amount of detail in the image.
Hope this helps,
Paul

And a great picture it was; by the way, you're not really supposed to talk about your picture before the challenge is over, just for future reference.
I don't know the software in question, but it's usually situated on the image or edit menu. You need to reduce the image size by reducing the width and height in pixels.
What you really should do is check for image size in the help menu.

Sorry about talking about the pic while challenge is going on. I figured that it was submitted and the for I couldn't change it so did realize it would cause problems talking about it. Thanks for the advice and I will try to wait next time before discussing. I removed the link and appreciate the advice.
