I'm happy to introduce Suma and Mamiya. Suma is a very willing model. Mamiya is much more difficult to photograph. Every bit as good-looking as Suma but because of his light coloring, flash photography washes him out. So usually I try to get Mamiya in natural light. The problem with that is he doesn't stay still. So I covet the images I get of Mamiya. Suma can always be captured again. My Beloved Pets

Awwwwww Chester is a little love, all cuddly with yer son. That shows some of his character. The more pics you take of pets, they become more used to it. I photograph my cats daily. They do let me know when the session is over. As I've said before...they have me trained.

Meet "Potter"

Potter is my cat... I adopted him from the Humane Society in July, 2000. He was 11 weeks old when I got him and he is just over two years old now. This photo is not a great photo... It was one of the first photos I took after the batteries charged when I got my F707. The camera seems to frighten him and he gets nervous when I have it and point it at him. In this shot, he is sitting on a corner table looking out the window and not watching me...

Looks like Chester and Mathew are best buds. Love the Santa outfit! :) He's a beauty!

Pepper is a cutie, too! Too cool that she's a sailor! :)

You can see pics and read all about my pets (and a bit about me) on my website. The pets are toward the bottom of the page I've linked to. They are my pride and joy! :)

PS You might recognize the black Shetland Sheepdog from the "games" challenge. :)

My zoo.

All of your animals are fine looking! It's nice you honored Lucy too. I don't think I've ever gotten over losing Arrow my absolutely gorgeous and loyal Brittany Spaniel. He disappeared during a Spring blizzard in upstate, NY. I looked for him for a few years and offered mucho bucks for info leading me to him. All to no avail. My Beastie Boys

I´d like to share a pic of one of my daughters (Tina. kid), with one of our pets (Raquel. Golden Retriever)

Raquel was 13 years old when I took the pic (scanned). She recently passed away at 14, and we still miss her very badly...

Great work Gr8. They remind me of the many cats I and my mother have had most of my life. No room for one right now. BTW is that a flat bed press I see in the picture of both cats with the box? aelith

While we don't have any photos of our own cat, Najla, available, we have
quite a few up for our fosters. What we lack in photo quality, we make up
for in quantity.

Here is my furry family, well, except for Jazz, my mala-mut.
Pictured are Xena (Fat-cat), Jasmine (Spaz-min) and Niki (Licky). I included their nicknames because the only times they get called their real names is when they do something bad!! ;)

You are all blessed with beautiful pets! If I can get some strength from this nagging cold I have, I'll drop a good picture of my two cats, Zeus and Con. I adopted them both from a clinic. Their brothers from the same litter and have never been separated for more than a day. I plan to keep it that way. Con is photogenic and I often come up with better photos than Zeus who has a tendency to hide.
I have a few pointers on taking pictures of animals: for animals that seem to be frightened of cameras, leave the camera out under your supervision so that the animal gets used to see it and can sniff it. Give a cat a chance to "check it out." Also, sometimes animals don't care about taking pictures so attract their attention with something or someone they do care about. Example, wave a feather or use a clicker for a sitting cat to get their eyes open and the nice "alert" expression. Just be ready to click your camera at the perfect and quick opportunity.

CVHS had some good pointers about getting pet photos. Here's more that work for me. Shoot often, with and without flash to accustom the pet to the flash and sounds. Use their names, nick names, and whatever goo goo talk they recognize and like, to 1-put them at ease and 2-get their attention. Make it comfortable and fun and they will usually enjoy the session. Reward your pet generously. The rewards should be verbal approval, touch, and treats...all randomely seems to work well. Sometimes mine are happy to be rewarded with me massaging their skin with their brush and telling them how beautiful they are.
I also take lots of pictures of other people's animals. Most of the time they don't know me. Usually all I need to do is tell them "gooooood boyyyy!" Note: All of these techniques also work for me when I need to medicate or cut my cats claws, in addition to handling them firmly but gently.
ohhh....gotta go. Here comes Suma requesting to have a session...lol
