Seems like a pretty steady decline in overall averages in the last 3-6 months, and in particular, seems to really have hit hard after the Experimental Open Challenges started. |
I agree with this Brad. I'm trying not to enter open challenges any more but I say that and I have already entered in "light on white" too good a subject not to enter. |

I did actually briefly hit 7.00 yesterday!!!
I've never seen that before.
I started to bleed from my nose and my head hurt.
But it was only for about two minutes until I hit update again and it was back to 6.9 and has been falling ever since.

Break out the champagne! I finally broke 5.0 again after 106 votes, only one comment though. I fully expected this image to utterly tank, so I was a little stunned that my first 5 votes were 1 (expected),6, 8, 6, 7; then, just when my hopes were up, I slid all the way down to 4.4ish after 60 votes. Fascinating ride this has been, can't wait to see the vote distribution.

Wohoo, new territory for me in this challenge. My wide angles shot is sitting at an even 6.0000 right now and this one is at an even 5.0000. What? has been a challenge for me to vote on.
Someone made reference that votes of 1, 2 or 3 are for those shots that don't meet the challenge. For me that applies, but also I will give the same marks for a shot that meets the challenge but is a really bad shot technically or creatively, IMO.

I was hoping I'd get in the 5's, but that may have been too optimistic for my first challenge.
The way I voted in this challenge, and the way I generally vote is like this:
2: This photo clearly doesn't belong in this challenge AND is really awful
3: This photo clearly doesn't belong in the challenge BUT has slightly more merit than a 2.
4: This photo clearly doesn't belong in the challenge BUT is quite decent otherwise, OR It belongs in the challenge BUT is pretty bad
5: Average photo that belongs in challenge and is of average quality
6: Belongs in challenge and is a bit above average
7: '' and is very nicely done
8 & 9: Just higher levels of great work
10: The best of the best
I have never given out a 1, and probably never will. I don't give out many 10's, but it's not impossible to get it out of me, either. I did give one out in this challenge, along with a whole slew of 7, 8, and 9's.

There's no justice. I don't like my 'Personification' entry & it gets 4th place. I like my 'What' entry a lot & it's below 5. :-P

hmmm....one comment with one word...not much help there. I was at a 5.8 when i went to bed lastnight at 1am. doesnt look like many people are commenting much for this challenge.
when we checked my daughters score(jessiroo) this morning it was at a 4.8 and she has 3 comments and i found all of them helpful and very well said(not harsh or rude) and they all give her something to watch for when taking her photos. I just love DPC! :oD
