| to cable, but I have a router, for extra puters. This cable modem has usb port and my router does not. my router says dsl and cable, will I have problems with it? |

| What type of modem do you have? Most have both usb and Cat cable imput look on the back to make shure. If it does then you are in luck. |

yes it has ethernet, but the disk that came with it says all usb. i'm sure i will firgure it out, but I tried it and nothing

| Hook your router directly to your modem via the ethernet cable it usually says modem/net in and then hook up your computer to one of the outputs. look on their website on how to configure your router and don't forget to secure your network so no one can steel your bandwidth. |

| I will just call them tomorrow. I still have dsl. but it has to come through there modem before the router. It's not the opposite. I just thought the usb was optional if. You had just one puter. |

You don't want to use the USB, the cable modem should have an ethernet port on it that you should use to connect it to the router. The router can be set up to make the connection to the 'net, your 'pooters need no additional software installed.
