My son wants to make short films using his Lego characters, play-doh etc. using photos frame by frame. I've searched the net and can't locate a likely programme for this, I'm probably not using the right terminology for an adequate search anyway. Does anyone here do this or know what software to get? |

Actually on this subject does anyone know of a good site that you can upload slide shows to so you can share them with others. I am sorry to change the subject but instead of making a new thread I thought it might help you datcat with your interest in the subject also.

Duh, you mean I had one all the time?? That's good to know, if rather embarrassing.
I checked out the Muvee one too. It looks easy to use.
Judi, drop in any time :) sorry I can't help, I don't even know what's under my nose. |

Lego actually made a set that did exactly this, but it was too expensive so no one bought it. They eventually discontinued it.

I think I remember that... |

I remember it. I was thinking about buying it, but my youngest was too old for it, so I couldn't convincingly make it look like I bought it for him, so I discontinued thinking about it. :)
On a related note, I heard that Tim Burton's new movie, "The Corpse Bride" was all shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IIs. ANyone else heard that? |

Hey Datcat,

Pedros site If you havent then you might want to look at his portfolio and in particular the Thailand video and the last one he did Arlene and George wedding video... Not sure what program he uses but its sure effective :) Seemed to fit with the questions you are asking in this thread

Funny, I was researching this last night. Actually time-lapse photography, but it's closely related.
The phrase you're looking for is 'stop motion'. Here's a really good website I found;
stopmotionanimation.com
And a list of software

I make a lot of montages both video and picture. Started off using MovieMaker, but the program is really unstable. Later moved to Vegas 4, Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid. I like Vegas best because of it ease of use. It allows you to import pictures or video, add effects, clean up an image and set the timing. |

This one looks really good: //www.stopmotionmaker.com/
Haven't tried it yet, I'll download it this evening. But I like the look of the interface. Plus, it can takes stills from digital cameras as well as input from camcorders.

Canon cameras with Nikon lenses... why? |

i've done a couple of stop motions using adobe premiere (pretty much the standard for pc editing)... really easy to do just click and drag your jpgs to the timeline. not sure of limitations on demo versions, etc. but i think premiere elements was like $99.... definitely worth it |

They already had something like $90k in Nikon glass, and of course lack of AF was not a consideration.

This short movie was shot entirely with a Canon 20D & edited with Sony Vegas Video 5.

The short movie is very impressive, looks like it took a LOT of work.
I'll be checking all these progs. out on the weekend (when I have a bit more time). Can't justify spending too much $$ at this stage though. |

How does vegas compare to the slide show part of elements? Better, worse, more features???? Reason I'm asking is because I already have elements and if vegas is not alot better, why spend the money. |

An example of a Lego movie can be found in the extras on the 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' DVD. One of the scenes was reshot using Lego figures as the characters. I believe it's the 'Knights of the Round Table' skit.
