I submitted a a photo to a stock agency that I thought was pretty good. It was rejected because of artifacts and hazing. Artifacts was explained to me (guess I have to learn more about RAW and invest in some bigger CF cards). But what is hazing and how can I avoid it? It is repairable in Post proccessing?

Hazing is the sometimes illigal initiation process into a school, club or military service where the new member is paddled, beaten or made to do degrading acts. (see Animal House) |

I'm unfamiliar withusing the term "hazing" in reference to anything photographic, the only thing I cna think of that thye are talking about is a general lack of contrast, which can look like a "haze" over the image.
If that's what they are referring to, it can be caused by the lens (optical quality), by shooting conditions (shooting into bright light source, no hood) or processing (improper black and/or white point). Check the histogram on yoiur images, it should span nearly the entire range without a large gap at either the bottom or top (Note that there are exceptions to this statement). Check the calibration of your monitor as well, and/or review the images on other monitors to determine if they look "hazy."

Did you paddle, beat, or degrade your photo? |

I think maybe they mean it is Hazy because the image looks Oof. In that shot you have the moon captured in frame and it was to intense for the rest of the lighting, looks to me almost like a lense flare over most of the image, and the moon is way bright, what settings did you use on this shot?

And did we EVER do our share of hazing in the Navy.
Of course that was before it was banned...
Oh the stories from the engineroom I could tell.
Grease and butt-cracks - well, I'll let you figure it out - LOL
Then there was the Shellback initiations for crossing the Equator, though these were allowed, and even Officers were subject to the most degrading acts - it's always been a maritime tradition, though it's greatly toned down now aboard ship.
Glad I had the opportunity to cross the Equator about 10 times and had a BLAST!

Makes me wanna' go dig up my Cruise Books - as the ship's photographer, I had a LOT of fun shooting those ceremonies.
Nuthin like green pancakes with eggshells in em for breakfast (and that was what was recognizeable), fire hoses, garbage tunnels, peanut butter & grease on Royal baby bellies ready for kisses, and, and, and....
Some of that stuff was REALLY gross!
Edit to add:
OK, so I wasn't patient - Google images had enough on hand to bring back those very fond memories:
Shellback Initiation
