I'm looking at the Hoya HMC polarizer filters and trying to decide between the HMC or the Super HMC. The only difference that I notice is that the Super is thinner and doesn't have the front threads that the HMC has. Which one should I get? How often would I need to use the front threads on a polarizer filter? I've never used one before so I don't know much about them.

Not sure why you'd want to stack a filter on top of a polarizer, unless you wanted to put a ND filter on top for like shooting waterfalls in bright light or something.

So you're saying there is no real reason to get a threaded polarizer. My camera has an electronic ND so I wouldn't need that.

I'm sure someone could find another use for it, but I can't think of one is all. I have no experience with "in camera ND" so I don't know if that's really equivalent or not.

One thing to think about, you might want a low-profile one like the the super HMC because mine gets vignetting below 50mm. Not sure if the attatchment that the g6 would take fixes that problem or not. only sure way is to go to a store and try it.

Cool thanks.
