Someone had to do it, so I volunteered.

For those of you looking for colors, here's what the trees are doing at the base of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. These were taken from Silver Mountain, which is neither silver looking nor mountainous.

We'll start with the crescent moon

Add some corpuscular rays!

Watch the sun rise

And get to the colors

Synopsis: Leaves are stressed from lack of water. Many trees are starting to turn. Colors are weak but coming along. If things progess as they are next weekend would probably be optimal color, give or take.

These photos aren't meant as high art, rather informational photos as to how the colors are coming along. If you have any color report photos please feel free to post. If you have any comments on the photos please feel free.

This thread is not meant to supplant this thread for posting pretty autumn colors.

Big fat bump for those who may have missed yet are extremely interested in the goings on of northern Michigan trees.

hey thanks JP, we're heading north tomorrow not much color our way don't think we'll see much the leaves are already starting to fall. (Most of my bushes died this year from the draught and watering ban).

Your sunrise shots are fantastic left you some comments. Michele

JP - great sunrise shots. The colors have been held back by all this warm weather in the U.P. - should change next week though as the temps are supposed to dump down mid-week. Sure wish we would get real cold - maybe get a nice October snowfall.

I'm off Thursday next week and am hoping to swing over to either the Porkies or the Keewennaw and see how the colors are looking then.

one more thing - am heading to Munising tomorrow for a cruise of the Pictured Rocks. I'll try to post some pics later tomorrow night - might have some good colors being by the waters edge.

Hey while you are there it would be most helpful if you could build an airport real quick. Thanks in advance. Tim ;)

Tim, there's an airport about 1 mile from my house. If you call beforehand they'll even mow it for you :)

Linda - I don't know how the Porkies or Copper Harbor are doing. I'll do some inquiring and let you know what I find. Pictured Rocks with tree color should prove to be a sight worth seeing, hopefully the colors are good. And even if they're not the rocks are something by themselves!

Michele - Hope you and the hubster get to find *some* color. Worst case scenario we can ship you some of our leaves during peak color :)
