I'm using RawShooter Essentials 2005 and I'm trying to batch convert 150 files to jpegs. I have set the title for the files (in the bar above the Add, Stop, Remove & locate buttons) and set my naming and output locations. Basically what I'm after is for eg Novice2005-001, Novice2005-002, Novice2005-003 etc....but it will only name the first file with my title (Novice2005-001) and then after that it saves each with it's RAW file name, followed by -001. I'm sure I've got it all set right but just can't get it to do it! I don't want to have to rename 250 files. Canon's File Viewer Utility used to let me do it not a worry and from what I can see I am doing everything right!
Does anyone have any ideas? |

mmm...been searching the Pixmantec forums and I think I solved my own problem. There was a post from February of this year stating that the TITLE is only for the selected file and is NOT for batch renaming. They said they would address this in the next release (which was 1.1.3 in April) but it still wasn't mentioned! *SIGH* guess I'm gonn ahave to rename them all manually! Bugger! :( |

I recently of all of the THM files created by shooting raw (wanted to make them jpeg so I could see them in my coolwalker) and found this program (ReNamer) which is pretty handy for batch renaming files and file extensions. Its free and I found it to be not too difficult to figure out.

Irfanview (one of the better photo viewer programs) also has batch editing tools. |

You can also do this in Photoshop.
You can create a new ation where you do absolutely nothing except saving the file.
Then you do a batch with it to a new location and rename it in the batch menu.
In RSE the numbers after the "-" are only changed if RSE enconuter a file with the same name that you have choosen. Then it changes it to 002 so it don't erase the other file.

Yeah, I found this is the problem because it is using the RAW filename for every file so everything is -001 after it because the main title is the same as the RAW. They haven't implemented it yet supposedly!
I have worked around it though so thanks for the tips! :) |
