Since I can't get anyone to pose and I won't be sitting for myself, If anybody feels like practicing their critiquing on this one, please do so.

Photosig does not allow direct linking of images.
Could you give us a web link to the page where the picture is posted, instead?
Thanks,
Terry

The banana is so cute. I like the picture, the look on his face is to serious for his age. The hair is to bright in that one area. Maybe less light or reflected light would be better. I would give it a 5.

If you like the banana you'll love this little bit of silliness.

As for the photograph, the composition is excellent... I think the light on the fair might be a little to hard, which I can overlook, as the line of light along the hair leads the viewer's eye into your subject's eye. Also there is a lack of light on the subject's right eye.
The most important thing missing from this shot is the child's personality. Simply, he looks bored, like, let's take this so I can get back to what I want to do. I'd like this a lot better if I felt like you captured his personality here, As it is, I'd give it a 5, maybe a 6.
Thanks for sharing!

composition and light are excellent!
but i find what makes or breaks these type of portraits for me is sharpness. if this was tack sharp it would really be a contenda.

I got the song in my head as soon as I saw the dancing banana icon... I needed to share my pain. Besides, group therapy is cheaper!

He looks as though he has lipstick on. Might be why the lad looks grumpy and the shot is in B/W. ie: looks un-natural

LOL, nope, no lipstick. Matt is the smiliest child on the face of the earth so it was hard not to get a grin from him. I really appreciate these critiques. I have had this picture on PhotoSig for some time and really didn't get the critiques I needed.
Thank you all for being honest and helpful. |

The focus is an issue for me too. Hope you get another model in time.. I'd love to see more. :0)

It´s not bad at all but I agree about the focus, For me it´s more important that the black left part is too black. A white paper at left would probably had reflected the light just enough. I think the boy shows personality.

You see, this is exactly why I asked. I didn't notice the lack of focus until now. I'm going to go back to the original photo and see if I can PS it a little sharper.
Thank you all for your help. You guys are great!
love the banana... |
