I really need to get some studio lights. I really only need one, but I need the cheapest one I can find. I really have almost no money. I have looked into alien bee's I really like them and the price isn't that bad.

if you ahve almost no money ... do for cheap....clamp on lamps with a daylight lightbulb in it works fairly well. that runs around $10.00 to 15.00 usd..youcan get the clamp on work lamp at a dolalr store...
next up is the halogen work lamps from home depot... abotu $35 to 40 usd... and it comes on a stand..

I'm also looking at Alien Bees. I can order it from the us directly and for the price I pay here for a Visatec\Broncolor head I manage to buy 2 b400 with stands and humbrellas (one of the packages they have) and still save for a big softbox. I'm also open to other sugestions. My main conser is I never worked with studio flash so I don't know about the power I need. But I've readed that the b400 will be more than enough for most sittuations.

they should be more than enough to get you started. The only thing I will warn you is if you don't have any experence with studio lighting do not get any lights that you need a pack for, get all monolight for now. find someone to teach you to use a pack if you want to go farther, they can be dangerious if you use them wrong

The alien bees are probably the choice for you. I have 2 b400s and plan to buy 2 more. I got them with the large softboxes and they are plenty powerful in the room I'm shooting. You can also use your regular hotshoe flashes in combination with them. I use 2 580ex speedlights with the st-e2 that works nice as hair lights/accent lights. Now if I could only get some models over here!

I have a B800 on the way. I'm just curious...is it possible to use my sb-600 with my nikon d70 with the alien bees?
