I've always loved photography and have recently been getting fairly serious about it. I've never got into any type of photoshop program before though. The only programs I've used have been Picture It! and the program that came with my G6. I would like a more extensive program that offers more and one that I won't get tired of soon. How much does the software cost anyways? Thanks |

Arr. GIMP is great. It's almost as good as photoshop, but somewhat slower. Great program for the price :D |

IrfanView - is a free program that is often overlooked. It is a pretty good viewer, with some excellent editing capability. |

photoshop CS2 is good for any level, just start off with the auto comands and work your way up. If you dont want to spend the $600 or so start with Photoshop Elements 4. That way if you decide to move up you are already fimilair with some of the commands.

I've been working with Paintshop Pro for ages. It will cover almost all functions you'll ever need. |

If money is not an object then Photoshop CS2 is the STANDARD in pro photo editing, if money is a concern then Photoshop Elements 4.0 at $99.95 is a very good alternative, with many of the most important functions of Photoshop CS2
