Was he trying to hit on you?

I got ID'd the other day and I told the kid that "I had enough hair on my face to be" his mother.

The comment didn't go over too big...

I'm currently a card carrying member of AARP.

They apparently think I'm 65. Which is a tad upsetting. But I did manage to get the Senior discount at a resturant!

AARP membership eligibility begins at age 50.

My mother changed her maiden name back in the 80s. So the only Clara Showalter at our house is me. Ergo, I am a card carrying AARP member. :) I'll see if I can find my card for you. :)

An overheard conversation (reported in the Sydney paper a while ago, so it's not verbatim):-

First teenager: Look, kid, you're only 14. I'm five years older than you.
Second teenager: Oh, yeah? How old are you?

I get the opposite. I still get carded (at the movies!). Awhile ago, I sat next to someone I didn't know and she asked me if I was in school. I told her no, that I was done with school. She was quiet for a few minutes and then said "done with high school?"

I'll be 28 next month.

(I do look a little older than my profile pic, though.)

Yea I get the "what grade are you in?" all the time. You should see the look on my client's family when I show up to shoot their wedding. Like they picked me out of a McDonald's playroom or something. :-)

Prediction: You're going to have a hard time dealing with it when you really do get old. Youthful good looks and figure will only last so long. Best to start preparing for when they fade and you'll need something else to carry you. Or, perhaps many plastic surgeries are in your future. ;) LOL

Funny, I hang around with people from 30 to 45 years old....they all think I am between those ages....When it comes up about age and I tell them I just turned 26 they cannot believe it! But everytime I go to a bar I get asked for ID!

I am 10 years older than I look (to other people anyway) and I have young kids (2 and 4) and I act immature (so they tell me). So i am not told i am old.
I however, FEEL old. I work with a diverse age range, but most are sub-25. It can be interesting to have conversations with them - music, TV and movies, cars.

One coworker is a HS senior - very cute and happy and full of life. Fun to talk to. However, I am 25 years older than her, and it sometimes hits me how old i really am.

Then I consider the fact i may very live to be 90...and i am not even halfway there yet!

I have always been thought of older, especially when I don't shave. When I was 16 I worked at a fast food restaurant and one day the district manager was in doing a review and told the manager he wanted me in the shift manager program immediately. The manager looked at me then back at the district manager and said "we should probably let him get out of high school first, then when he's 18". lol the district manager couldn't believe I was only 16. Was probably the cheesy peach skin mustache I had. Loved it then but now I can't even look at those pictures without busting out at how bad it looked....ahhh high school and trying to look cool lol

Goldberry,

I'm far from 24 yrs old, but I can tell you I'm suffering from the same twitch you speak of....

I PM'd Joey yesterday to ask a question and he replied by addressing me as Sir. It still stings!! :) The difference for me, as I approach 40, is that it takes longer to recover from injuries than when I was 24 ... it may take me weeks for the twitch to go away.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....

I'm 24 and get judged at around 17-18 (maybe 19 if I'm having a good day) a lot. What really sucks though is that my driver's license is from 4 years ago -- right before I decided to grow out my hair AND when I used to wear contacts all the time (now I mostly wear glasses... mmmmmm... comfort with no effort).

Anyway, I've had a lot of people think it's a fake and have me start verifying everything on it -- number: I still don't remember, signature: "sign this piece of paper please, ma'am" *suspicious eyes glance from paper to card*, and so on.

In Ontario the drinking age is 19!

Ahh, but to me you'll always be a bouncy cute little girl of about 10 with skinny legs and beautiful brown hair, catching butterflies in a field full of wildflowers :))))

My youngest informed me, "You're not really OLD, mum!"
