of this photo?

I'm not fond of the content or this type of photo. However, I think it would have a greater impact if it was centered rather then justified right. I also think t is a little OoF and perhaps a little to bright with that lamp lighting.

This coming from a guy that has a photo of a toy Jesus Christ in his portfolio that comes with a nail throwing ninja-messiah.And he's not fond of the content. You got to be kidding me man.
This an actual piece of architecture, not a mockery of Jesus Christ or religion unlike the photo in your portfolio.

Uneven lighting, low on contrast, subject placement isn't good, I don't know why you chose to move it somewhat to the right, its unbalanced..

Edit: just realized that this is YOUR thread.

I hate all religion and anything to do with its seriousness. Any replica of Jesus is a mockery and if I'm not mistaken it says so in the bible (but I'd have to look that up for a debate). If you took offence to what I said about your photo all I can say is too bad. If the truth or my opinion offended you about your photo then again too bad. If you cannot see the humor in the photo in my profile then sucks to be you because life is way to short to not see humour in things like that. Just wait until your worm food just like me then rool over and say, "you know you were right. We are just worm food in the end."

You keep thinkin butch, that's what you're good at.

Could we go back to the photo and keep personal beliefs out of it if you guys can't be civil?

Dsmeth: seriously, I think this was a turn the other cheek moment for ya, so just chill. It's not worth the agitation to get upset over this kind of junk.

edit - sorry accidentally left the window loged in as my wife, for anyone who cares that comment came from wavelength

The potential could be there but the overall composition of the shot seems off, should be more centered. Also the lack of sharpness, it's not soft focus or least it doesn't look like it, looks more like out of focus, what this hand held when taken? A tripod could make a world of difference there.

Also the cropping could be much tighter so the lines of the light on the sides go out toward sides, leading you in on the left and out on the right.

And honestly? The expression on the face? That is just spooky under these conditions, maybe it's the light, maybe it looks differently under daylight but in this shot they look frightening to me personally. I don't mind a nice picture of Jesus (if that's what he really looks like) but any shots that have him wide eyed or scarey eyed turn me away right off.

azoychka - you did not offer YOUR opinion

an opinion was requested - of course the resulting comment was MY #&$*&^!!! opinion
if you want to learn - keep asking for opinions/comments
if you don't - keep your mind closed

or you want a diatribe on the content or the photograph ?

Probably not my place to comment, and may take some ... guff, for doing so, so be it! IMO (MY OPINION) OP ASKED for opinions/critiques on his photo. Correct? Notonline attempted to give that opinion/critique, did not attack the op, did not say the pic was terrible, just gave his/her opinion of it. Saw that opinion and HONESTLY thought, that is JUST what I am looking for from the low scoring voters here on a challenge, wow, would be nice. THEN, op comes back and attacks n.o.l. for his opinion - which he/she ASKED for - and berates n.o.l's photos? WHY, for an (I hope) honest opinion. Well, probably a GREAT reason more people do not leave honest critiques on challenges, very afraid of that type of retaliation!! I know IT IS MY OPINION!!!

I don't think anyone should let derision or combative attitudes keep them from expressing thier honest opinion in a respectful manner. Also, I think when you are met with such a response, it is incumbent upon you to act in a manner that is still respectful. Simply returning tit for tat is childish. If the conversation had turned intellectually honest while possibly being heated, okay, whatever. But when you start making personal attacks, peoples brains tend to shut down, yours most of all.

It is perfectly within the realm of reality to difuse or ignore angry posts/comments. Guess my point is that you shouldn't be afraid to speak your voice simply for fear of dissention.

lol I wasn't hostile or combative but I could have been. I wasn't even heated. This is the problem with people reading suff online and trying to interpret it in their own ways and NOT being able to hear a toone of voice. I gave an honest opinion to his question when in fact it was about to be moved from the recent posts list. In fact his photo was sitting their and thought I'd respond because I know I'd like feedback when I ask so I give it when I can. I do agree with olddj in some aspects about people spouting off at the mouth when they have asked for comments. He didn't like mine. No big deal. I move on. Nothing I said was offensive or rude so...

Your later posts did get a little heated though, I think you'd have to admit. And to a Christian, some things you said were offensive (after your first post). Saying something like "I hate religion" kind of goes towards the "offensive" end of the spectum of conversation don't you think? To religious people, that's tantamount to saying "I hate you."

What is with this thread? Is everyone just having a bad day? Put some Jack Johnson on, take a chill pill (literally if you have one) and just freakin relax already!

THis looks like it could be a difficult shot to take. If I dont miss my mark this is on the out side of the building up high?

A big problem with this shot is lighting, the one light source being at the bottom leaves it over exposed and the outer edges under exposed. also the low lighting/ over lighting can cause it to be difficult to focus correctly. AF will lock on highest contrast which is roof line and empty space which is more than likely a few inches off from where the wall is so it maks whole thing look Oof. It isnt centered so crpooing could fix that though. If you can go back and shoot it during the day for better lighting, or bring some lights in to make lighting more consistent, doing that should make it easier to focus correctly as well.

here is a quick 5min fix I tried, adjusted hue, sat and lightness, cropped

I did a similar photo awhile ago--
Shot @ 1/4 sec.

Did you use a tripod/long exposure?
