Okay, two of them actually. One at Walmart and one at Staples while waiting for other things. I have never even dreamed of picking up the camera before simply becuase it was out of my price range but there it was, just sitting there, talking to me.

So I picked them up, played with them a bit, took a shot or two and then the Staples manager came to talk to me and asked if I wanted help with that camera.

"No, I want that camera but it's way out of my price range! All I need right now is batteries for my little cheapie here." and I slowly pulled the new little Kodak out of my pocket. He was so nice and didn't point and laugh at me.

I'll let you try my 1D Mark II out this weekend if you want. I'm only bringing 2 lenses for it, so not much variation. You'll have to live with a 24mm and a 85mm.

Deannda...I don't know if you are really in the market for a DSLR, and what your price range is if you are seriously considering getting one. There is, however, another alternative if you want to own one and that is getting an Olympus. The Oly E-300 has been selling with a two lens kit for $614 from Dell when on sale. You get two lenses...a 28-90mm lens and another lens with focal length of 80-300mm. That's a great price for a camera that takes interchangeable lenses, has great image quality and has features the Rebel doesn't, such as spot metering. All for a great price. It's something to look into.

E-300

If you were in the market for an entry lvl DSLR you should look at the E-500 if you were thinking Olympus. It has a way better body style than the E-300 (which was absolutley brutal) and is coming packed with the two lens kit as well. It's also supposed to have better high ISO handling which is a nicer option than you could imagine.

I would love yours but sadly my finances can't handle it right now. IF I get one it's going to have to be on payments, small payments! :)

Thanks!

Keep an eye out for local photography contests, if there are any around you. Some might have a dSLR as top prize. At least it's a good way to dream. I entered one recently, so I get to dream until early December, when judging finishes & my dreams will be dashed to bits.

The reason I recommended the E-300 to the op was due to price. The E-500 2 lens kit is going for $900, still a bargain, but at $300 less, the E-300 is a phenomenal price with the same 2 lens. While I did not like the styling of the E-300 when it first came out, I love it now, and find it to be a much more solid (metal subchassis) and well made. Image quality is the same as they both have the same Kodak sensor, just a few more bells and whisltes have been added. The high ISO better performance on the E-500, from the comparisons I've seen so far are not that impressive.
