I hear alot of the photographers on here mention levels when talking about their shots. I'm fairly new to all of this and I only have the "photoshop" program that came w/ my camera. I imagine levels has something to do with touching up the shot some how?

"Levels" is a Photoshop-specific thing. If you have Photoshop Elements (which I believe Canon ships with all their cameras, you have levels. Look in the menus for "Image/adjust image/levels" or something like that. It's basically a more sophisticated form of contrast enhancement. Search the forums here for discussions on how to use levels, and if you can't find anything let us know.

If your image adjusting program is not a photoshop program by adobe, then most likely the closest you can get is whatever your program offers for contrast enhancement.

My camera came with Canon Photo Solutions which has Photo Studio 5.5. I didn't see anything on there for levels. Is "enhance" the same as levels? Also what does the "layers" feature do?

Oy, oyyyyyy. Have you read the documentation, the help files? It would be best to do that, I think, before asking more questions. But contrast adjustment will probably live under "enhancement", yes.

I'll bow out of this one now and let someone who's actually used that program take over :-)

Paint Shop Pro also has the "Levels" tool.
